let me tell you: Take these lessons from me, i was one of the most popualr girls in school.
-be yourself, its hard, really hard, but dont let people change you no matter what.
-never talk 1 ounce of crap. keep secrets to yourself, dont spluge any gossip, it will get you in trouble, and if you want people to trust and respect you, shut your mouth.
- be active!! do good in school, grades etc.
-go for sports, only be a cheerlearder if you are truley good at it.
-never sport hoochie clothing(you dont want guys to think of you like"that".
- Be Nice!! yes, to everyone, the geeks the band nerds, the drama club, the punks ect.
-be nice to your teahers!! no matter how much they bug you, as long as you go to class, and try your best, they will respect you.
i can say so much more about high school, but for the most part, please, have fun, it goes by waaaay to fast!! trust me.
Good luck sweetie

Well, first of all, congrats on starting high school! The one piece of advice I have for you is to be brave and be yourself. High school is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn and experience and get involved in all kinds of fun activities. At the same time, it can be a bit rough socially. What is really important is that you be true to yourself and give yourself permission to make mistakes sometimes (nobody is perfect!). As long as you keep trying, not only will you be successful, but you will learn a lot about life and about growing up. Just remember, everyone in high school is insecure (no matter how much they may pretend otherwise), just be friendly and honest and open. Take time to explore activities (sports, clubs, etc...) and find fulfillment through the things that make you happy. Because no matter what people say to you or how they may treat you when things get rough, if you follow your passions and pursuits, they will sustain you for the rest of your life. I wish you the best of luck!

OMG i totally know where you are at!!!!!!
I'm starting High School this year too and all of my friends are going to other high schools. Not only that my 8th grade English teacher decided to put me in an advanced class that I'm not ready for, also, i might be getting braces,(worried bout that)
The thing is, I've learned to just go on, I'm not at school for friends, for learning. As for the advanced English, I've made a summer reading program....... hopefully i will be ready, i know i have low self-esteem, i just don't act it on the Internet.... but everything should be okay as long as you prepare before

High school is a whole new territory and can be scary. However, it can be the most fun too. Important thing to remember... try to ask a teacher for directions if you get lost. I remember when I started high school, the seniors would give out wrong directions for a laugh.
Join in extra curricular activities like sports teams, year book staff or another program that your school offers. This is a fast way to make friends and get involved with your school.
Most high schools have a variety of events throughout the year. Get involved. Have fun. We had homecoming every year. One year I served refreshments. I had the most fun.
The one thing I remember my mom saying to me was not to worry about fitting in. She said to be myself and people will like you for that. Being an individual when peer pressure is at its worst was very hard. But I made life long friends without compromising who I was. (And I had tons of fun too)
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Dont worry too much.
Thats really the core of anyones advice for high school. I was just like you, i went to a catholic school for high school and I knew NO ONE there when i applied, save a junior. Luckily, I wasn't too smart though. I was smart enough to skip a year of math freshman year, but i had to take a summer course to do so, along with I believe 27 other people. From that course i became friends wiht one guy, who introduced me to a group of girls who i hung out with a few times over the summer. First day of classes I had friends to lean on when I was scared of high school.
whats the moral of that story? Make friends before school starts. But realize you may not stay friends with those friends, people change alot in high school. make friends like I did, or think of your own way. Or use myspace, Almost every class of every school has a myspace group, join yours to meet people that way.
That will make you a million times less scared. Then on your first day, just don't act scared. Your gonna be, but if you dont act like it the fear will go away eventually. Also, don't do anything stupid. The freshman in my public school all slept with seniors and crap the first few months of school, and now everyone hates them but wants to get into their pants. Don't let that happen to you.
but remember, above all else, don't cause drama, don't worry, don't try to be someone else, and don't ruin your summer thinking about it. One week into freshman year, you'll be enjoying yourself and have friends. trust me.

Just act like you. Be nice and try to talk to some new people in your classes. More than likely people will start convos with you. I was in your shoes once. The high school was HUGE and I was more worried about finding and getting to my classes on time than anything.
and remember, only a few more years left. Thats what i kept trying to remember. I had senior-itis the first day of my freshmen year.

First of all, don't act scared! Don't let anyone boss you around or anything like that. High School isn't as bad as it may seem to you. And to tell you the truth you are probably not ganna wanna be in the "IN" crowd but if you end up hangin with them then u do. Just be yourself and do special things that are just "YOUR" things. Like keep pics of your friends, boyfriend (if u have one),your fav singers/rappers/groups. Have your own style. Good luck!

Take a deep breath, pick out a cute outfit for your first day, and decide where you're going to meet your friends. I know that high school can seem scary, but it's really not that bad. Good luck! :)
