hexador i agree whit u not a single real criminal should be granted anmesty and when i say real i am not talking about people who just came to work even if they did it they wrong way , that doesn't make them real criminals . just think in the time it would take to deport them all and the resources that would take away from capturing rapist , murderers and people who are a real harm to america .

Greenspan said exactly those words? I need to look that up. I suspect he said we benefit from IMMIGRATION which means legal immigration. However, I could see him favoring a guest worker program.

I don't think our cities are resting on the shoulders of illegals, as the earth upon Atlas, however, with all due respect to Mr. Greenspan.
----------------

OK, I looked it up. He didn't say 'legalization' from what I can see. He said immigration as our labor force shrinks is helpful in keeping down inflation. That means, enough to meet our shrinking labor force.

However, he goes further. He said that 'illegal immigrants' are an anti-inflationary element because they get paid less. Note that this only works so long as they are illegal. However, the principle would apply to a temporary guest worker program where the employer has built in controls and leverage, as well.

That doesn't speak to legalization of those here, and as far as I can find he never addressed either the bills on the table now, nor has he made any statement on illegal immigration in years.
------

Uh, no, the quote is "And organized labor is calling for a revision of immigration laws to give low-wage immigrants without legal status the right to stay permanently"

That is not Greenspan. They quote Greenspan as saying they should loosen immigration laws. That was years ago, too.
-----------
You and I might not be that far apart about people here once we get the border secure, etc.

However, we are fairly far apart about Greenspan.

Bloomberg Is An IDIOT Game
You Actually Believe That Garbage?

Im LMFAOff

While the numbers of deportations (and voluntary departures) would rise under a more vigorous immigration regime (which I support), this increase would happen over time. Thus, there would not be a massive, immediate shock to the economy, but rather a more gradual adjustment process as higher-wage workers (citizens and legal immigrants) replace lower-wage illegal aliens. While this adjustment process would have a greater impact in places like New York City and California where more illegal aliens are located, it would hardly cause the nation's economy to "collapse." That is just absurd.

As this is a nation founded by immigrants, and has a majority of the population with an ancestry in other countries, the concept, I presume, of the modern immigrant is that this action has always been practiced and should be kept with few restrictions. To the average American, who, while attempting to make a living continues to be replaced by those which will do the same job for less money, find it difficult to compete in the job market. I once was replaced by such and after the 'immigrant' took the job, it was found that he was not capable of the quality which the job required. I was asked to return and I refused. and they ended up having to hire three more people to do to complete the job in the manner of which I could have done it alone. The cost was twice what they had been paying me. While it is true, there are some jobs in the past that an American would not take because of the low standing of the job, that job would be welcomed in today's market by anyone unafraid of physical labor. As the major companies disappear over the horizon, the lowly jobs in the fields of agriculture are starting to look better to the college graduate who can't find a job in his chosen field. I see nothing wrong with an immigrant wanting to come to our country to fill a position which others who are native would not do, but I do have a problem with those who come in to freeload off the government and tax payer money. If they come to work, pay taxes and make America their home, there is no problem.

Did you even read the article you linked??? What an idiot. This is what Greenspan is quoted as saying "open up our immigration rolls significantly" that is ALL.... I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong point is it?

Lets also not forget this article is over 6 YEARS OLD, written by a biased woman from the NIF!

Come on man, is this the best you can come up with?

I read the link you provided; Greenspan says about the contribution of immigrants and making the current immigration laws easier for people to come here legally, but Greenspan did not said anything about illegals immigrant or "undocumented workers", and he did NOT said to illegals legal.

LIberalizition and not the same as LEGALIZATION.

Yeah, just like the lie our own President told us, that the illegals do the jobs Americans won't do, that's hogwash, and their are other high profile economist that say other wise, just because Greenspan is known, doesn't make him right. Remember if we legalize, we legalize thousands of criminals also, Deport first ask questions later.

So he said we could not have legal immigrants do the work. They have to be illegal?

Look I am not against immigration. let everybody that wants to come in send in a postcard. Pick randomly those that can come in. Do background checks. Health checks. if they pass give them documents and find them a job. Tell them they have to follow the laws like the rest of us saps or their out baby or no baby.!

Why do we need people that break the law? Bloomberg is an Idiot.
