DO NOT DO IT AT HOME! Trust me, I cant tell you the amount of times I have seen girls rushing to the stylist hoping that they can fix the homemade disaster they created. Since your hair is black in order to get a good color you are going to have to lift some of the black and in order to do that you would most probably need bleach and that is something u just shouldnt do at home. I think brown highlights will look good on your skin the same with the red. I dont think you should do your whole head any of those colors though. Maybe get some highlights with a rinse over top so that it looks dyed but its not permanent. Those home coloring kits will work better with people with lighter hair so please, please please, go to the salon or else the next question you'll be asking will be about wigs!

Well I suggest not to go a redish..Maybe a lightish dark would look great.I am not sure what would go good with your skin color but i think that you should try a light brown..but not like a caramel. And I never dyed my hair at home so i think that you should just try to hit every spot or go to a salon just like me.I know it can be expensive but its worth a shot and it looks a thousand times better.Hope I help...and in a couple months you should try a lighter shade of high lights..it would look adorable.

Be careful with home color. I had very long hair and the home color ruined it. I had to cut it to a short bob. Not happy. Good luck. Now 4 years later I have hair again.

Pick a color that doesn't look too much like your skin. If you're dark-skinned, pick a light brown or red. If you're lighter, pick darker colors. I like reds on any skin tones. Good luck!

You are going to need to use a highlighter to achieve a color lighter than your natural color, unless you bleach it which is completely unhealthy. The site listed below will help guide you to a good color and style for your complexion.

you might try a temporary hair rinse, like henna, it will give your hair red highlights With dark hair, I would go to a stylist. Because when you dye, you can damage your hair. And those dark roots do look nasty.
