The french and british or some european countries were fighting a war, the leader from one side said to shoot off the middle fingers of the soldiers from the other side so they couldnt use their cross bows, after each barrage the side with the cross bows would show the other guys there middle fingers.

Might be from farming in the good ol days,
i heard perhaps it was an agriculture
gesture as they would say, f<#ck the land,
to put holes into the ground for seeding.
I'am not sure if this goes back 10,000 years
but i remember hearing something like that
on one of the Pacifica Radio Stations ( KPFK: LA )
many years ago ... too bad i can't remember
the whole idea about the origin of the middle finger.

I believe it was some gesture the Scottish used while trying to keep there country centuries ago. But I can't remember the exact meaning. Am I close?

If you give yourself the finger you may notice that with the folded fingers on either side it some what resembles an erect prick & balls, most people find this to be an insult.
