I'm sort of a chronic worrier....always stressed out and depressed. I've been taking Zoloft for a few years now, and just started also taking a very low dosage of Xanax (as needed), but neither seem to be working. Can anyone recommend a different one? Reasons why would be very helpful too! Thank you

it really depends on you. i took a lot of different ones over the years. some worked and others didn't. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR about how they make you feel. keep a journal of how you feel each day. record any side effects you experience. this way you can be specific when asked how this med is working for you.

for me-- i found out later that i have bi-polar, not just depression, and found that lithium is the best for me. keep looking. don't give up...you don't have to suffer.

another idea is to try vitamin b-6 daily. this helps stimulate the production of serotonin one of the major chemicals anti-depressants work on.

good luck in your search.

I used to take zoloft, but to tell you the truth I got worse; I know everybody has a different body and reactions to medicines, but the best I can tell you that even though it's hard being positive in things, walking with a friend, taking green tea before bed, and even playing online games will relax you, the brain needs to be entertain, think back when you were a kid, kids are happy playing, laughing, or being spoil, sometime we need to go back a few years and start having fun, I'm loosing a lot of my hair, but going out with friends, or doing things that I used to love has diminish a little bit that problem.

The best anti-depressant (to me) is to take a long walk outside by yourself and think about the good things in life.

I highly recommend finding and reading the book "Plato Not Prozac" by Lou Marinoff. It could change your life.

Effexor. It is an anti-depressant that ALSO helps with anxiety. And hopefully you wouldn't need to use Xanax anymore, which is very habit-forming. I would suggest avoiding it.

Try Vitamins. They often remove toxins brought on by, eg. enviromental facters like heavy metals.

type ... heavy metals depression... in a good search engine.

Look to remove heavy metals safely from your enviroment.

It is always better to look for the cause than treat a symptom.

Consult Psychiatrist as the anti-depressant drugs have side effects and addictive properties.

Hate to say it but, none. You have to hack out the source of the worry or the worrying and follow through on a decision to react differently to situations.
