For a mature adult who has been involved in intimate and loving relationships, as well as discovered their sensuality...before dedicating their life to Christ. In your view, how long do you think a person like this can go without sexual relations after seriously taking the words in the bible about fornication into consideration? All remarks are welcome...serious or not

Ok...so celibacy, abstinence....whatever you want to call it. I'm asking because I've been involved in church for quite sometime and when I've gotten to "know" people, it's amazing...most of the ones who you'd think were really in touch with christian responsibility seem to be the biggest freaks while those like me who are the "wild" ones who refuse to adhere to the "ideal" christian like behavior are actually the ones taking this thing serious....more comments are welcome. I actually think some of these remarks are funny...like the "celibrate" comment. LOL

Ummm....for some of you....I just want an answer to the question. It's amazing how most of us can offer an opinion WITHOUT answering the question. LOL

Most people are taking this as if I'm asking for permission to have sex. LOL NO NO NO. I'm happy right where I am. I was just asking about YOUR thoughts on it, not asking for advise. LOL Thanks anyways.

Its all about personal control and I'm not sure that 'how long CAN they go' is the right question. If you are doing it for the right reasons and have a strong relationship with God then you should be able to do this, although it will be difficult. I think a better question may be 'how long SHOULD they go'. In which case, I would say as long as it takes for you to achieve your goals. Think about why you want to do this. Is it because you want to strengthen your relationship with God, become a more spiritual person, learn to exercise self-control, allow yourself to heal or something else? Before you start, you need to decide why you are doing it, what you want to achieve and how you will measure whether or not you have achieved this. Pray about all these things and ask that God will guide you.
I hope you get there :)

Celibacy does not convey about pedophilia, pedophilia leads to pedophilia. It has not something to do with lack of sex because it does miswiring of the mind. Celibacy does reason very much of sexual repression, yet that is the point isn't it? Sexual repression would nicely be shown to diminish inhibitions each and every so often, yet those are purely in those who're predisposed to have boundry themes interior the first position. there are a mode of extra pedophiles interior the final inhabitants percentage sensible than there are interior the small Celibate minority, that is in simple terms not as sensational to document on the each and every-day perverts.

Fornication is a sin no matter how we look at it. If you know Jesus you need to be patient. You don't 'need' sex you obviously 'want' sex. Their is a major difference of the too. If you know and love the Lord in you heart you need to ask him for strength in your life. Don't say you can't. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength Philippians 4:13.
There is more to life than having sex.
Are you hoping that if people say that its OK then God won't mind? Maybe you are wanting a Christian to say its OK. Well sadly some might, but its still a sin.
If you call this celibacy then you obviously don't know what celibacy really is.
God calls people to celibacy, we don't choose on our own. If that is where God wants you then ask him to help you. If he hasn't well as I said you need to patient, and keep you hands to yourselves and keep you pants on when your in the presence of the opposite sex

Umm... celibacy means to never have sex or get married. If you've already done one of those two, it's kind of hard to be celibate. However, you can still decide to abstain from sex.

How long can a person go without sexual relations? It depends on the person. I believe celibacy is a gift that God gives to certain people so they can completely devote their lives to God.

It can go on for a lifetime. Paul the Apostle is a great example. It just depends on your level of commitment to Christ versus your flesh.

Jesus mentioned that not everyone would be able to handle such a calling. "But he said to them, "Not everyone can accept this saying, except those to whom celibacy has been granted. For some men are celibate from birth, while others are celibate because they have been made that way by others. Still others are celibate because they have made themselves that way for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can." (Matthew 19:11-12)

Paul agrees, but gives a caveat, "I say to those who are unmarried, especially to widows: It is good for them to remain like me. However, if they cannot control themselves, they should get married, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion." (I Corinthians 7:8-9)

Hope that helps!

chapelite has a good answer.

similar - but if you TRUELY want to follow your new course of life, you will HAVE to avoid situations that could lead to 'something more intimate'.
Thereafter, if you do wish to find a marriage mate not solely for the purpose of 'you can't take it any longer', but for love & a fulfilling relationship then will be the time to 'make an honest man of yourself'!

Life if need be... if you are asking as one of the Christian faith, then it is a matter of obligation not choice. Been there, am there, will stay there unless God provides another mate... and I pray he dose not.

the people that claim to be most taken by religion are the ones to watch. they got most to cover up for, they usually are the first to *****, backstab, plot, be freaky, whatever... first to sin in other words. people who genuenly are religious don't flaunt it or throw it in one's face.
