If he is jealous or possessive and you don't want to be with him
any more, then it's time to go. Don't give him the power to make
that decision,it's not his to make.

If they are acting strange, they may be confused, depressed, and very lonely, yet if that person is acting strange enough to bring you harm? By then you should know. Alot of people get so depressed when they feel a loss, sometime they cannot control themselves, but lose control by harming the loved one and/or themselves. Some people are aware of this and seek medical help. and some don't realize it and try's to end the hurt by ending their lives. If that person is causing you harm in some way, please advise the other person to see a doctor, before a life is lost.

You would know to let your loved one go when they are negatively effecting your ability to function and have a life and you've tried all ways reasonable to help them.
It's at that point that you can't help anyone until you've helped yourself.
It would help me answer if you could clarify what you mean by "strange". It's also hard when they're unwilling to let you go. You may have to find someone to intervene on your behalf.... i.e. friend, family, mental health case worker.

Their strange behavior is not necessarily their way of letting you go, you need to talk with them! so much of relationship problems are caused by lack of communication. Maybe it has nothing to do with you! You won't know if you guys don't sit down and talk about it.
