Its just a funny term to call white people who act all gangster black. Its no big deal.
I wouldn't say rock n roll is all about white dudes. I agree that rock n roll sees no color.
a better analogy would be... New Wave has always been a "white people" thing...
funny question though.. You got some serious answers.

Your facts are not correct. Rock n Roll was not started by white dudes... you need to research the origins. Interestingly enough, many parents of white kids did not allow their children to listen to rock and roll..calling it the "devils music." (some black kids were also banned) This genre was started off by people like Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino. And was based on gospel music and rhythm and blues. Sister Rosetta Thorpe, a gospel musician was doing guitar licks that would knock your socks off before the the term rock n roll was even coined. Hence, back in the 50s white kids and musicians who got into rock n roll were emulating black kids. This wigger word has a double meaning. Back in the days of p-funk, wigging out was a popular term that meant something like over the top, not necessarily in a good way. Hence, sometimes people use that term as a term of endearment and others use it as a way ridicule wanna bes. I say these are "teen" things and all kids should be allowed to enjoy their youth.
BTW Muslims come in all colors. There are white Muslims...To the person who suggested walking up to a Muslim and calling them white,....what planet are you from..??????
To the one who says blacks speak in unconventional English and wear our pants below our butts...your statements are characteristic of one who is ignorant...These are not characteristics of black people; these are behaviors of teenagers of all races...

Yes, I would think it is offensive since it comes from an offensive term that some use to label Blacks. I don't understand wannabes either. Why is it cool for your pants to fall down and your underwear to show or to wear a jacket when it is a hundred degrees, or to speak poorly, or to walk with an attitude? I thought I was just getting old but it's nice to know that younger people feel the same way.

Why is it that most black people are offended by a white person "acting black" and they call them a posser or a wannabe? Why are white people offended by a white person "acting black" and they say they aren't really being themselves? Why do minorities think that if someone acts in a dignified and professional way they are "whitewashed?" Why is anyone said to be acting any color? Why is everything about color? Why can't people just be people and act how they want to act?

wigger might be pushing it. wannabe would be more PC I guess but I see your point. I live in rural country town so not many black people here but the wannabe population is tremendous. all with their baggy jeans hanging off their a*sses and hats flipped to the side with bandanas underneath. looks stupid and obviously they don't realize it. there are no black people here so why try and be like them? trying to impress other country folk that you're hard core? please. such a joke and not even worth the effort.

depends what ya mean. There were theses kids I knew that all of a sudden wanted start their own society of wiggers. Weird! huh? Wiggers just don't have anybody to be so they copy off us black peeps(jk) (maybe we're just cool like that (jk) or they need to be individuals).

When you start labeling a race with stereotypes then that is very offensive.
I agree with Peterson. I can't stand how people just assume you are trying to act black because you want your pants one size larger.

The simple fact that you even have to ask such a question has me wondering...
Come on... You seem intelligent enough to figure this one out for yourself...
Racial terms that are addressed to anyone of any race are offensive...
Just because they think it's cool, to call each other these things (names) doesn't make it so...
Eventually, they will figure it out for themselves too...

Its offensive, anytime you stereotype someone its offensive. Style changes and cultures blend and meld and effect one another. Nothing wrong with that. Anyway as people grow they mature and hopefully they will have their own style and what everyone else is doing won't matter.
