Right now, the first slide stays up until the song is over. I want the song to play and the slides to advance and then I want to have another song play over several other slides. Can anyone help?

There are lots of those types floating around in those 'pass it along' type emails. Next time you get one pick it apart to see what makes it tick. I too am wondering the same thing and plan to pick the next one that comes my way apart to see.

Once you put the sound on a slide, right click on the icon for the sound (looks like a speaker) and select "custom animation".

A side window will open with the animation info. Click on the drop down arrow (right side of the song title in the animation window) and select "Timing..."

Click on the "effect" tab in this window. Here you can enter in the information for how long the sound plays - that is the number of slides the song continues for until it stops.

It is not a great way to have sound play, but I have created many powerpoint slide shows using this method.

If you do lots of slide shows, you might think about getting Adobe Premiere. MUCH easier to use that powerpoint for making slide shows. And you can burn them onto a DVD for presentation anyplace...you don't need to haul your computer around. You can purchase Premiere and Photoshop Elements for about $150. Good investment and easy to learn/use.
