For the purpose of writing, I would like to get a sense of how people feel about Patriotism and Betrayal. Would you ever consider being a traitor to you country, and if so, what would it take? (I’m not offering!) Would you take money? Could you be persuaded with logic or emotion? On the other hand, what would you do for your country? Would you sacrifice yourself? Your friends? Your family? Your children? Would you be willing to be tortured? Or to watch your friends or family or children be tortured? Where do you think you would draw the line? Is Patriotism the most important thing in your life or are there other things that come first? God? Family? If your country is worth dying or being tortured for, what makes it that way for you? If that were to change, would you still feel the same? I don’t mean to say that I would betray my country, but I rather would like to know your reasoning for feeling how you feel. If this is too personal, don’t answer. If you do answer, include you country.

I'd have to look at the end result if I were to betray my country. If my betrayal would be a contribution to a society of endless suffering, than I'd rather die a patriot.

I would not betray my country for any amount of money or luxury. I do not like a lot of things being done in this country, but there are worse countries.

I would not consider dying for my country, and pray that none of my children ever have to go to war (even if it's by their own choice). I would not sacrifice anyone for this country's wrong wars. I lost many during Viet Nam, and am not willing to lose more.

It's those we elect who should be the sacrifices (if there have to be any at all), and the leaders of the countries who want war with us.

First, good question. What I don't like about the Bush administration is that he equates being unpatriotic with disagreeing with him. He says "You are either with us or one of our enemies". I guess that makes me an enemy. We have NO business in Iraq, and the president is an utter egomaniacal fool. Saying this , not only does not make me unpatriotic, it makes me very proud as an American. America is special because I can think and say whatever I want, within reason. I don't have to fly ten flags at my house and have a ribbon magnet on my car to be patriotic. Our forefathers set this country up so that we can agree to disagree... it is called civil liberties. The Bush administration would like to take that away from us, a very cornerstone of our foundation. Would I die for America? It depends on the cause. Right now, I would have to say no. Betray America? I Don't think so either.

All I have to say is this. You must respect two things, and then te rest falls into place. Those two things are: God and Country. If you have respect for these two things, then the saftey and well being of your family and your posessions will be assured. If you ignore either one, then your future is uncertain.

My only exception to this would be if the country became so corrupt and bad that revolution is necessary.
