Should incest be allowed?

Question

If homosexuality is accepted why not incest? Some people say that their might be genetic problems in the children born out of incest.
But if it's done(by mutualy consenting adult siblings or mother/son, father/daughter) not for reproduction but for pleasure and love why is it not ok? What about incest between a son and father(same sex--no reproduction of weak genetic future) or a daughter and a mother?

I totally agree with you. What NEXT? If one perversion is allowed--it's ver very possible that after let's say 20 years the other perversions won't seem gross at all and be taken as quite NORMAL.

I am not talking about incest between an underaged child and a parent. Let's say the son is 30 and the mother is 50 and they are doing it with mutual consent.

I think I see where you are going with this. If same-sex marriage is allowed, well then, why not incest? Where do you draw the line? Isn't it a slippery slope leading to all kinds of perverted and sick things? That's the trouble once you start tolerating evil practices. The evil just keep eroding away, bit by bit. It's a little like how to cook a frog. You throw him in luke warm water in a pot on the stove. He likes it and doesn't try to jump out. Slowly you increase the temperature. The change is gradual and he stays in. He gets lethargic. After awhile he is cooked.

Just because some behavior is between consenting adults does not make it morally acceptable. Do we really want the debasing and corrupting influence of gladiator fights? Why not, if the gladiators do it willingly for prize money? People would pay to see folks kill other people. But doesn't this subtly corrupt us, to watch and allow such activities?

Homosexuality was accepted and approved of in ancient Greece. Look what it led to. Young boys seven years old were taken from their homes and made the playthings of older men in dormitories. People learned to accept as normal sexual predators.

I say yes ... In the culture of today ... all forms of pleasure between consenting adults must be allowed. The key words are adult: able to make decisions and take responsibility, and pleasure: what feels good. As long as people are adults then they should be able to choose their pleasures. This is the argument of the crass hedonist. So if you buy that philosophy there you go. I'm not saying I do.

Homosexuality and incest are two thinks that should never be compared because they are nothing alike. Incest should be wrong because only sick freaks would wanna have sex with their kids. There are too many problems with this. Like people who still live with their parents when they become legal adults, ur parents still have a hold over u so they could use it as leverage to make u have sex with them. Frankly this sounds like a good excuse for people to molest their kids!

This is a tough position for me to take, given my generaly open opinion of sexuality. I don't be lieve sexuality should be regulated by a biblical doctrine written thousands of years ago, by bullyish tribal chieftains using religious power to keep themselves in power, and control women. But, incest... this is not a spontaneous, romantic kind of thing. When I sanction free love I'm sanctioning romantic love and sex as a way of expressing it. And I sanction that love be it heterosexual or homosexual. But, I ask, is it really possible to fall in love with your own father ? Granted, it's been done- and they call it an Oedipus Complex. When the psychiatric profession has a name for it, it is normally not natural behavior.

You can not compare homosexuality to incest, they are at the opposite ends of the ball park, look them up in the dictionary.

Personally, I think the main problem with legalizing incest would be the inevitable accidental pregnancies and, like another said, consent would be dubious between parent and child.

You hit on a major taboo in our society.
It comes down to psychological issues of the adult child who has had an incestuous relationship with their parent. Like molestation, incest is cyclic in nature and threatens the mental health of the child who carries these wounds into adulthood. This makes it difficult for this person to ever have a healthy conventional relationship as expected by church and state.
That's my PC answer.
However, If both parties are concenting. Go For It! At least orally.

A relationship between two people unrelated is perfectly okay, in my opinion. But incest is between those of the same blood, and somewhere along the line, it will be worse for the kid. For me, I see a clear different situation altogether. There's just something really wrong about it...
