The best conditioner for course hair for me is "Creme of Nature" in the yellow bottle w/ the green Label, or the beige bottle w/ the red lable. It's very very soft on the air.

My brother and I both have course hair...and I started using black girl shampoo...what you do is put the amount of regular shampoo in your hand you normally would use and add just a bit of black ppl shampoo wash and rinse the just normal conditioner...I told my bro about it and he has been doing it ever since..try it...it should work.

my husband has hair just like that. Thick course hair is more prone to blocking the scalp, which can lead to dandruff.

Anyway, regardless of your flake situation, ive found that for my husband (who basically has pube hair on his head) head and shoulders smooth and sleek works best. its a two in one, although most places sell a separate conditioner.
It works great for keeping it smooth and a little less poofish.

Pantene is good. Their winter damage stuff is awesome! Just leaave it in for five minutes and rinse. If you want to soften up your hair, try using a leave in conditioner afterwards.
