I would talk to the county clerk's office where the birth certificate is filed. It may be possible for you to provide proof that the baby isn't yours and that might be enough.

Otherwise you'll have to file a petition in family court.

Note that if you were married when the baby was born, most jurisdictions consider you to be the legal father anyway and won't let you off the hook for support unless the real father steps up.

Good luck.

First, the baby's mother should not have put your name on the birth certificate w/o your permission. Secondly, if your name was put on there before you got the test results back, you need to go to this woman and ask her to remove your name. If she or whoever put your name on the certificate doesn't take your name off then I would take that person to family court. Make sure you keep your paternity test though. That's going to be your proof that you took the test and that you are not lying about not being the father. Hope this helps and good luck to you!

Get a lawyer ASAP!! When you signed that birth certificate you legally said "I will pay all expenses related to this child". It will take a court order to get your name removed from the birth certificate. And BTW--If you are married to the mother and found out that you aren't the child's father after the fact--YOU ARE SCREWED.

Best of luck to you

You shouldn't worry about it. The birth certificate is meaningless as a legal document as far as child support. The woman can put Alfred E. Neumann in that spot on the birth cert. if she wants.

Talk to the babies mother and tell her you want the name removed. Have DNA testing done and keep that for evidence when you have to take her to court. She's going to try to hit you up for some child support. DO it quick!

I am not sure what state you are in but in California there is a process called Adjudication of Facts of Parentage. This has to st be done through the court system.

Go to some men's groups on Yahoo. I think you have to go through the courts but you know how sexist they are; they're set up to give entirely everything to the woman, and they opperate in secrecy [to hide thier crimes]. Good luck.
