It is said that car salesman are the most untrustworthy of any persons walking the Earth. This reputation may or not be well-deserved. The best way to buy a car is to know what you want, know what you can afford to pay and to take your time in the purchase. Buy with your head-- not with your heart. Sure, I'd like to be seen tooling around in a 2006 ZO6 Corvette but I can't afford either the car or its insurance. Nor do I want the ever-present threat of theft or vandalism by people who are angry and jealous of what I have and deign to take their anger and jealousy out on my possessions.

Car salesmen are just like everybody else: they have to make a living, as well. They will say things that you want to hear if they think it will lead to a sale. They also need to sell so many cars a month where they work or they are out of there. It's a called a "quota." In car sales, it means "you will sell enough cars a month to justify your job here, or you will have no job here. So tell the buyers what they want to hear. Sell more car that he can afford, but sell, sell, sell."

Well, there are car salesman's and there are car salesmen if you go to buy a car and you go with some idea of what you want it will helps you and the salesmen , do your homework first and don't go with the wrong attitude if you respect them i now they will to if you go to stroke them then you will get a bad experience because they work on commission and you are the one given them the wrong signals i am just a consumer that like to be services properly if i show respect.

Ok, all I have to say is not all of them are bad!

Im an auto sales associate myself. However you do have ones that rob people blind but then you have ones that make a decent commission, while giving the person a deal, thus building clientele. If you rob someone eventually they will figure it out and they will spread the word and people wont trust you. Which ends up hurting you. Sales people have such a bad reputation, but profit is good. You dont have to lie to people to be successful.
Also sometimes they are alot worse towards eachother, than to the actual customer. i.e. Someone may lie to a customer and say that their sales person isnt there just to get their deal, or something stupid.

People hate us, but we're not all bad =)

I was told that they can't be trusted. But my grandfather was one so I guess you can't believe everything you hear! It takes a patient person to sell cars. Its not like just anyone is cut out for the job. They have to work regardless of the weather. Rain or shine! Yeah, sure they want to make money but it takes a salesman that knows what he's doing to make the sale and have a very satisfied customer.

They are out there trying to make a living. Not necessarily by telling the whole truth.
