Ok, first off I grew up raised by a single mother, and in my current situation my wife past away a year and half ago. With that in mind a question a crossed my mind recently that I need help with. In my lonlyness since I wife died I stile have found an interest in seeing any one new. I am usually busy looking after our 3 sons who are currently 5 and twins 3 years old, plus I work so. Well a couple of weeks ago late one night long after the boys where a sleep, I was doing what ever lonly man does alone, masturbate, well this night my 5 year old had got'n up to go get a drink from the kitchen and cought me in the act as he passed through the living room. Honestly at first I was embarased and ashamed at first, which why I have been reluctent to talk to about it yet. Cause my mind has posed a question, being I never was raised by a dad, Should a father properly teach his sons how to masturbate??? Much like shaving, riding a bike, and so on..

Your sons will figure out how to do it on their own just as all men before them have. Teach your sons the art of open communication by sitting down with your 5 yr old and asking him if he has any questions about what he saw. Tell him that it's something that all men do sometimes because it makes them feel good and that when he's grown he'll probably do it too and that's okay.

He is too young and it would not be appropriate. Is he asking you about it or do you feel compelled to explain your actions? If he is not asking, forget it. If he is asking, tell him you were doing something that you should have been doing in the bathroom or your bedroom in private. No disrespect meant, but you have to be a responsible dad in all ways, so put your porno dvd's in your bedroom where the kids won't see you and save yourself the uncomfortable situation. By the way, when it is an appropriate time for your son to discover himself, he won't need you to teach him how. Guys have been figuring out how to do it without instructions since the garden of Eden. This is not to say you can't discuss it with him, but that will be years down the road. I'm glad you asked this question; it's tough to be both parents.

I know your situation, my father has another family and I saw him only 4 times in my life, my mother is looking for me doing all the hard work just for me. You should talk to your son's about the incident and you must know that when they are older they will start to masturbate too (it's inevitable). Just try to be a good father, be with them, take care of them, teach them, do not let them feel the absents of their father like us. You will be a good...no a great dad if you just try. Raise your children like as a good father. I'm sorry about your wife.

A father should teach his son to masturbate if the father is a pedophile. Seriously, you must be a 10 year old with this question and grammar. If not, seek help.

First off, I`m really sorry about your loss, that must be a very very awful thing to go through, I couldn`t even imagine...
Second, you don`t "teach" someone to masturbate especially not a 5 year old. Did anyone teach you?? (I mean a grown up??). He would not understand. When he is ready, he will figure it out himself and don`t be upset if he never tells you about it. I don`t think I would want to know what my kids are doing!!!
Good Luck.

people who are clearly not parents - they actually think they know what this is like...
The easiest way, which was not the way I was taught is with the "2 bunny ears" technique. Make a loop with EACH of the laces, then just loop one under and through and pull. give it a shot. Most kids will not know how to do it already, so she'll be way ahead of the game. My son and his friends are 11, and they're still not good at it because

Um...do you plan on holding demonstrations? If so...YOU should be in jail. Let him experience this on his own. I won't say you were wrong for doing what came natural to you, but hopefully you are prepared to answer any questions. Offtopic...a father should teach his sons how to respect women and how to grow to be well mannered men.

Coming from a guy that hit puberty at 11...
When I first started doing it I had no idea why and i got upset and cried to my mom about my feelings, and how i thought they were so inappropriate... but she explained otherwise.
My tip is let them know mastrubation exists so they don't feel uncomfortable and panic when they start having the urge to touch themselves.
Good luck, I admire you ;-)

No don't teach him that, he'll learn on his on. Talk to him, let him
know that your missing mommy and what you were doing was
normal for guy like you, who is lonely relieve himself, tell him
when he gets a little older you'll explain whats blue balls. And that your sorry for him to see you doing something that is very personal.

I would say no and that that would cross the line into deviancy. Masturbation is a personal exploration and not something to be taught.
