try Sunsilk. It's a newer shampoo, conditioner, etc. products. They have something for every type of hair. WalMart did have sample sizes in a little zipper pouch that included shampoo, conditioner and styling product for a couple of dollars. Might be worth trying to see how you like it. :)

I know many ways for this. My hair use to be so poofy.
The first thing your going to have to do is go to a hair stylist place. I'm not talking about real expensive. I go to fantastic Sam's. It's only 14 dollars to cut my hair, and they do a really good job. Probably better than going somewhere that charges 40. Anyway get as many layers as they are willing to put in your hair. They might charge 4 dollars, I'm not sure I did this about 4 years ago. Also, ask them to thin out the back. Not the front.
When that's done your hair should weigh less and you'll have less of it.
While washing your hair get a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Preferably Herbal essence:citrus lift. It's only 3 dollars. That should lift your hair from it's roots to give it a more overall appeal.
Keep your hair long. I know I just told you to cut it, but if you had poofy hair like I had then it should weigh down on your head. Just let it grow out.

My hair used to be like that too. I was trying to hide the fact that I had curly hair, so I was doing lots of things to it. But now, when I let it be it'self, and use pantene products. (esp. conditioner!) my hair looks pretty good. also, some of the pantene styling products, esp. the spray ones, work very well.
And the people above are right. DONT CUT IT SHORTER! when poofy hair gets short you look like a triangle or some other shape you dont want to look like.
Good Luck!

NO DON'T LISTEN TO THAT DUDE WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T CUT IT SHORTER. What I do is either put a lot of gel in it and curl it or straighten it by blow drying your hair first then straightning it then puting straight gel then some oil. That usually does it for me!
hope this helps :)

use frizz ease (3.99) at drugstores...my hair was a poof of hair on my head, but use this sprayafter you shower and you willl have straight sleek hair...
heres what else you can do... take a shower and wash hairin warm water, then rinse with cold water. comb straight and pour a glass of ice cold water over it (to prevent frizz) then blow dry pointing the nozel down. blow dry one section at a time until bone dry then blow dry the next section.brush out. this works2 !!!

hair spray. lift the hair a little to spray it to get the inside as well. then blow dry it. it will be a bit stiff but it keeps it down.
