I'd choose to speak Spanish. I like the way the language sounds when it rolls off the tongue. :)

I would like to be fluent in Spanish. It's the unofficial second language of the USA. I would like to be able to speak with the many Spanish-speaking people with whom I have occasion to meet. I am using Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish now.

I took several years of French, but never use it. I went to Quebec twice and it helped a little.

I would also like to learn Swahili (just to get in touch with da' roots!) and Mandarin Chinese. China is a huge part of the world's population and economy. I would not want to be left out!!!

I would also love to learn Italian. We visited Italy, and the language was so ****ed sexy! My kids are 1/2 Italian, so I think knowing who you are is important. They picked up the language pretty well during our trip. I'd like to learn more, with them.

Finally, I really wish I could speak Arabic. With so much going on overseas, I think learning the language would help me gain some insights into the culture.

I love good ole' NE American-dialected English, too!

When I started to learn Spanish in the 6th grade, I went to the bookstore to get a bilingual dictionary. While browsing, I saw a Russian-English-Russian dictionary and immediately became fascinated with the different alphabet. I bought both dictionaries.
I then went to the local library and checked out the only Russian grammar they had. I never did learn Spanish, but I now know Russian. It was the language I wanted to speak ever since the 6th grade. But then I found that French was a language I wanted to speak. And German. And Finnish. And Estonian. And Hungarian. And Georgian. And Arabic. And Hebrew. And Dutch. And.... Get the point. I find it difficult to prefer one language over the other. They are all fascinating. Yet time keeps us from learning so many. We eventually have to decide which one or two (maybe three) we wish to perfect. So I have chosen Russian, Hungarian and French. I watch the news and shows in all of these languages through the internet and satellite TV. I watch Finnish TV sometimes, but my proficiency has declined. I just don't have the time!

Italian. I've recently become obsessed with the thought of going there, don't know squat about it, can't speak the language, and will eventually chicken out and go someplace where they speak English or Spanish.

What a snatch I am....

I would like to speak Tahitian because it's a beautiful language and it's part of my heritage. I am semi-fluent in Cantonese but I would want to be fully fluent, then I'd like to learn Spanish because it's very useful.

Any arabic language because most of them are really hard to learn and the alphabet and spelling are so very different.
