1. Get a muzzel, or
2. Get one of the barking collars. (They have ones that will either shock the dog or they have ones that make a beeping noise thye don't like)

Try lemon juice. Just a small squirt in the mouth, hold the mouth closed (not to do it in pain, just to hold it closed) as you say, "no bark". After 3 or 4 seconds, release the mouth and (at 2, 3, 4 in the morning) lay back down. Don't say ANYTHING else (not even "good dog" a few seconds later when they no longer bark). It should only take a day or two before they realize they shouldn't be barking.

If they learn to like the lemon juice (which I've had several do), switch to tobasco sauce. Neither of these will hurt the dog, it'll only burn the tongue a little bit (I would recommend they have access to water however while you are training with this method).

Good luck!

that's what they (dogs) do...and honestly..it's not always a bad thing....i have two Pits...they bark at little noises at night sometimes to...well one barks, and then the other barks because the first one is barking....usually, i have to get up and see what they are barking at...tell them to "shut up" when it is nothing, and go back to sleep. I hear the collars work pretty good, I have never used one, because I would hate for them to be scared to bark when they really should be barking. (My dogs aren't biters so they bark...really, really loud, and this tends to keep people, and other animals away from house.)

Obediance training helps, or making a loud noice like stomp your foot of clap your hands. I know that many find barking collars to be abusive but they cause no harm to dogs and you will only need them for a brief period. They do work. Small dog are very territorial and will bark at anything. Hope all works out.

I recently had this problem.
What i did:
I stepped out into the backyard, while my dog was barking at some random thing, then i grabbed a broom and beat it non stop for 30 seconds. Then i sprayed it with water and spit on it and yelled at it.
I guarantee your dog WILL NOT BARK AGAIN if you do this.

my two little Chihuahuas don't bark at night because they sleep in bed with me. During the day when they bark at something they shouldn't I tell them in a calm voice not to. Try to reassure them that everything is ok. Patients.

My dog hates water so we gave her a little spritz with the spray bottle when she barks and she stops. Find something your dogs hate and find a way to work it against them. Oh it's spelled Chihuahua. Good luck!

I have two chihuahuas and they do the same thing...they've done this forever...so I don't really know if there is anything you can do to make them quit.

I have heard that you can squirt them with a water gun for several nights (or however long) to 'train' them to stop, but that may or may not work...I just haven't had the energy to wake up and do it. Good luck.
