Points and Levels
To encourage participation and reward great answers, Yahoo! Answers has a system of points and levels. The number of points you get depends on the specific action you take. The points table below summarizes the point values for different actions. While you can't use points to buy or redeem anything, they do allow everyone to recognize how active and helpful you've been. (And they give you another excuse to brag to your friends.)

You just keep answering any questions that you can contribute to. Answer open questions when you feel like it, and when you get tired of that, spend some time voting on the best answers in the closed questions. Also, even if you don't want to answer questions, just log in each and every day, that simple act earns points too. Some of these things are only 1 point, but they add up.
Just keep plugging away, you'll get there. There's no pot of gold when you get there tho, but it is a satisfying feeling to be making noticable progress.

like areligo says
dont ask questions.
but keep answering as many as you can
and dont just say yes or no
give a complete answer and say what you feel or think
speak from the heart
and you may get a best answer ,which gives 10 points
and as soon as you can
vote and rate --for a best answer
as many as you are allowed everyday
also if you ask a question ,after 2 days check it and vote ,what you think is the best answer
i this way you will be at level 4 in no time .
like a couple of weeks.
and check the people out ,click on their avater and see at what level they are and what kind of questions and answers they do.
like that you learn a lot of background stuff.
dont waste points on many times repeated questions ,because all the answers already exist for you
if you read them

Answer lots of questions, well thought out answers which will hopefully earn you 10 points. Don't ask questions, which costs you 5 points. I finally made level 4, but 5 is a long way off. You can click on your name by your avatar to see your score. Have fun!

To LOOSE POINTS!
Ask questions using few words.
Ask questions that you really want answered because you want to know the answer.
If the question is very personal don't get upset at personal answers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To GAIN POINTS FAST;
Give a SHORT answer to any question you feel you have the answer to.
Try and help - not start any arguments.
The faster you can answer the more questions you can cover and the more points you get.
DO NOT MAKE A LIFE'S WORK OUT OF GAINING POINTS!
Have fun and maybe learn a bit.
I am at level 5.
Answer questions to get 2 points each. If your question is chosen as best, you get 10 points. Keep getting points this way and vote on best answers (1 point).
To see how many points you need to get to level 2, click on MY Q&A in the top right hand corner of your screen.
Answer questions in categories that interest you and about which you are well informed.
Give the very best answers you can ... and take the questions seriously.
You'll get points for answering and bonuses if your answers are felt to be the best by the asker of the question.
When it comes down to it, though, the best motivation is that you want to give people good guidance ... not the points. LOL
Answer more Questions than you ask, so the points add up.
Rate Best Answers, and vote for Best Answer on Unresolved Questions.
Right now, you need 68 points to get there. That is 34 Answers.
Good luck! :-))
