Baggage and the old saying of "Adversity develops character" are one in the same. Baggage is charater building and does help develop the person we will eventually become.

People who are against baggage or who complain about someones baggage are weak themselves. They do not want to work through issues, they want everything to be just the way they want.

Well in reality nothing is ever how you want it and everything needs work. Baggage should be something to be talked about and it will then bring a couple closer together.

If you discuss and identify baggage a solution or workaround is then achievable...so you have a cure, explanation and a bringing of closeness.

All winners to me.

I would have to say yes it helps us to be the person we are today, but there is baggage and then there is baggage. There is the kind of baggage that make us experienced and then there is baggage that rules our everyday life. For me being single, never married, never had kids, I find it really hard to understand different aspects of someone who has been married and has kids cause, yes in a relationship I like to have a lot of us time in a relationship. Not that I am needy, I really want our relationship to blossom.

I think most people mean when they say they don't want someone with baggage is that they don't want to deal with someone who has more or worse baggage than themselves. People normally are willing to date someone who has the same baggage as themselves. Sure, everyone has problems but no one wants to be with a person who constantly has drama attached to them.

Example: Can women really get mad at a man who says he doesn't want to get involved with them because they have children when that man doesn't have children? No, they shouldn't because that isn't baggage that he is bringing to the table. They should look for someone who is similiar to them (one who has children) because then the expectation is that the baggage is equal.

*sorry it was a rambling response*

People dont want the "baggage" because some feel tied down if another person came along- also a lot of people who say that usually want to just be single. the ex's are who have made us who we are today for sure, but a lot of people dont look at it that way, and would rather start fresh with a new person, instead of talking about their ex's so they say i dont have any baggage, even if they think about their ex-.. woow that was a ramble, sorry if its confusing.

1. Because they have baggage and want to be the baby in the relationship.

2. They aren't mature enough to know experience = baggage, so everybody has it.

3. Anyone who says "no baggage" is "no prize" anyhow.

Baggage means lots of ex'es and/or children to deal with. If you still have feelings for an ex, give the new person a break & move on until you've resolved those issues. If it has to do with kids, you'll just need to keep searching for someone who accepts your kids as their own. There are plenty of people who will & if the ones you've been with don't then you need to move on anyway...the relationship is doomed before it even starts.

every one
every one has baggage..no matter even if they lived all by themselves for 15 years..they still have their own baggage...
so they are only fooling themselves and they are trying to fool others too..
and if they think that everyone else does not have any baggage..then they need to go back to their little hiding place because we ALL have some...
good or bad we all have some...

smile
good luck

they have their own baggage they may be working through and do not need anyone else problems..everyone is not working on or through their baggage.some use it -baggage-as an excuse for their actions..life is too difficult as it is,who needs your issues??????baggage is not what makes us who we are..we have choices in whether to use baggage as a stepping stone to understanding ourselves and why we do what we do(negative) and negate a change in our selves or continue carrying it around interrrupting others lives with the bs blaming what happened on someone, holding them hostage with our behaviour, instead i\of finding ways of healing and growing..can you really afford mentally for someone else to dump their baggage on you? i cannot
