Why can't people just learn. What, if something is hard, we have to change it!? Crazy.

Define a simplified spelling plan. By definition, a simplified spelling plan is correct spelling only with new spellings for some words.

ugh, it drives me nuts. I couldn't even make it through the article about it. I think changing an entire language for a few people who can't catch on is silly. In a way, our language is a part of our history. Changing the English language, especially in the U.S. is just another way for everyone else to see us as a bunch of ignorant, illiterate, lazy @$$es. By the way, "sae" can be pronounced a number of ways and is probably more confusing than "say" as it is now, as with a bunch of other "simplified" spellings.

Hate it!!

I really wish schools would go back to good old fashioned PHONICS and traditional Route learning.

The new "simplified spelling" also known as "whole language" in some states, is destroying our children's' ability to learn and communicate effectively.
It leads to lower standardized test scores and simply makes our children look like morons on the international front.

it sucs. y r we changing that witch th rest of th worl uses. I think it dums down amrica. mayb we shud dum down math as well. How a bout medisin. I want mi doctor to b as dum as mi speln.

Besides who then sets the standard by which we use to make spelling easier. In twenty years do we again say, 'its to hard" and change it again. And if spelling is to hard then how about math or medicine. I look forward to working in a building were the architec used dumb down math. Or my doctor to say your whatsamagig is messed up.

Instead of changing the system why not make parents and children accountable for the problem. The issue isn't with the system. It is with the fact that mom and dad don't take time with Johnny to do the work and to teach him or allow Sally to play video games all the time instead of doing her home work. Teaching starts at home. If children enter school unprepared it is the parents fault. Not the system.

Don't many people do that already on the computer?

I think it is laziness! (or stupidity)

My son (age 25) has learning disabilities and he can spell correctly!
