If our TRUE purpose is to fight terrorism, why don't we patrol the Canadian border?

Is it just the Mexicans we don't like?

Terrorism is only one reason people want to secure the border with Mexico. The main reason, in my opinion, is that Mexicans (unlike Canadians) are illegally immigrating into our country en masse putting a strain on our social services, the housing supply and natural resources such as water ... remember the Southwest, where most Mexicans and other Latin Americans are immigrating to is a desert area with a limited supply of water.

However, I do believe that if we are to truly secure our nation from terrorism and illegal immigration we need to secure the Canadian border too. Terrorists as well as illegal aliens pass through Canada too, but not as often, so it shouldn't be the number one priority.

1) We do patrol the northern border.

2) The Canadian authorities are professional and diligent in patrolling their side of the border.

3) The international and inter-agency law enforcement cooperation exhibited on the northern border is unheard of along the US-Mexico border.

That's a good question.. But let me tel you this, the Mexicans have brown skin and most of the Canadians have white skin, so obviously the us citizen (brainless human being around our planet, not all of you guys), find it better or not so different that them, and they hate the fact that the brown skin can make it so much better that too many of them in their "OWN COUNTRY" like they say.
Anyway boundaries are anything, the only BOUNDARY that i can see around here is the US citizen state of mind to not be able to accept the world as it is ...this problem will never change...SO instead of be wasting your time posting stupid things, Why don't you guys do something for YOUR COUNTRY???

Probably because its harder to enforce because its longer and Canda is a good ally we can't afford to offend. And yes, we're sending a message that we don't want Mexicans, and more broadly Latinos, to try and get the American Dream. Ironically, 50% of undocumented immigrants, including Asians and Europeans, come through the Canadian border.

There are many purposes to border security. One is to protect our education and social services from failing under the weight of mass illegal immigration by poor people whom we subsidize.

If we just 'didn't like Mexicans' this would never have waited until there were 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants here.

norsktjej1964 does it occur to you that when there are so many records of illegal Mexican immigrants to go through and so many in the country it might impact how quickly people from that country get cleared?

If there were at least 6 million illegal Swedish immigrants here, your wife might have had the same problem.

because its all a plot by the GOP to gain support for their damn war. No terrorists have come thru Mexico, they sure did thru Canada, just a couple of weeks ago if you recall... but the GOP uses the Mexican immigration problem as a diversion to take away attention from their multiple failures or on real issues they cant resolve... thats what they did with the whole gay marrige thing last month as well....

Maybe because it's harder for terrorists to get into Canada in the first place (relatively speaking compared to Mexico). That and Canadians are too busy listening to Alanis Morissette and watching Jim Carey movies.

All purposes in order of the trouble caused should be watched. Right now Mexico is a big problem-a true purpose is there and needs immediate attention.
