you'll need to do nothing, except keep it clean and conditioned regularly
after time, and when you think you can't stand it anymore, go see a professional hair salon
they will then be able to treat your hair to the way you want
you need to get the length you want first

it's like growing a beard, you need to do nothing for awhile, putting up with the nastiness and discomfort, but after time you will be able to style it as you wish

I'm a girl with thick and course hair. I use Pantene Pro-V's Daily Moisture Renewal shampoo and conditioner. I allow the conditioner to stay on for a few minutes while I am shaving and washing. Then I rinse. I know quite a few people say Pantene is full of wax and it doesn't do anything good for the hair. But my hair stylist has told me I can use it because the wax keeps the coarse hair from getting really frizzy and helps weigh it down a bit. If you want thin hair, next time you get a haircut ask the barber or stylist to thin it out for you.

Just remember during the summer months that long and thick hair keeps you really hot. I'd cut mine but I hate taking the time to style it when it is short. So I live in a ponytail from May through September.

Start by training your hair. I am from the old school. brush your hair alot at night. Get a head scarfs and train your hair to lay. Also you may what to invest into a "flat iron". that always does the trick for me. Also use natural oils.

okay i'm a girl so this may sound a little girlie. You should always use conditioner. I recommend garnier fructis. Also u can use these bottles spray that untangles and contitions ur hair when you use it. That will make it better and always comb for a while when your doing ur hair even if it looks fine. hope i helped!

get it thinned out at a salon and do hair masks to add moisture to hair. you should also use a leave in conditioner before drying your hair so that it doesn't take the moisture away.

Wash it in water that's no more than the temp of your scalp. And put a bit of conditioner on it and leave it in. I use the conditioner just like hair-gel and smoth it down; it's looks tidy after that.
