With the majority of Americans claiming to be Christian, how do they justify their lust for money and war? It seems as if the teaching of Jesus and the behavior of the country are polar opposites. What do you think?

You are 100% correct. I've wondered that myself growing up in a christian church. Everything sunday school or the minister would say is completly different than the American way. Capitalism is full of greed and it makes the rich get richer while Jesus was all about the poor. He even said that is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Well look at America, The richest country in the world....... You could very well subsitute in the story that man for America, because we are indeed more wealthy than other countries.

Better to ask if the American interpretations of Jesus’ teaching are un-Biblical. To which I would respond in the affirmative. If the American Church were held to just the one command of Messiah "to forsake all", the population and support of Christianity would fall by up to 95%. And if the remaining were told they had to abide by the dictates of the Sermon on the Mount they would lose perhaps 98% of the rest. So it was in Messiah’ era. “These are hard sayings, who can hear them… and they went away.”

That we shall be held to those standards on Judgment Day does not seem to affect them in the least. This is the result of our “easy believeism” and the doctrine of demons Peter warned us about. The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of America are and always have been in competition with each other. “Choose ye this day whom ye shall serve”.

First of all , Jesus was in the beginning , before there ever was an earth or america . Yes , man is mostly opposite from Jesus teachings , that is what is wrong with man , he won't follow Jesus , he will only go his own way . In the scriptures in Proverbs 14:12 it speaks of man's shortcoming

Ok, I've heard this before. I've heard atheists say "If money is the root of all evil, why do churches keep asking for it?" Its a good question, but taken out of context of scripture. See, its missing one word: The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. There's a big difference. Although it makes me sick when churches beg for money, and that is wrong, not ALL churches are like that.

About the war thing, where did you find that Jesus was for war?

If you're talking about the current president in office, let me just say that some people pretend they are christians...especially if it earns them more electoral votes...that's the REAL corruption...

Oh, I agree that there are many American Christians who don't exactly live up to the teachings of Jesus, but I wouldn't say those teachings are "un-Americans." I would, however, call them "counter-cultural" because they do ask people to love others and be fair and just and let's face it, I don't think that's ever been humanity's strongest point.

Americans have become the most immoral people on earth.
This is why God has sent evil heathens, like the Muslims, to wreak His wrath upon them.
I am an American, but i am a Christian first.
When they killed Abraham Lincoln, took the Bible out of schools, and mothers out of the kitchen, that's when our nation started to fall apart.
It was once a great and godly nation.
To me, the 3 biggest mistakes of our government made was, #1, what they did to the Indians, #2, giving support to the enemies of Israel (the Muslims), and #3, electing a Roman Catholic president (JFK).
America is cursed and doomed.
Nobody can come against Israel and evade God's wrath.
GOD BLESS ISRAEL!

I think American ideology is somewhat in line with Christ's teachings. With a few exceptions, I believe America is compatible with Christianity. However, Americans are not. For a long time I was frustrated with America but now I realize that America is relatively decent, it's Americans that I am frustrated with. Just my two cents.

No, the American greed is anti-Christian. Jesus' teaching were established BEFORE the U.S.A. so therefore you have to compare the US beliefs to the teachings of Jesus. You can't compare biblical teachings to the US standards because they didn't exist at the time of their creation to be compared to. That is like a son saying, "My dad has my eyes." It is impossible.

Most are Christian in name only. Even sincere Christians have fallen for the lies of materialism and unjust wars. Sometimes you have to choose between the cross and the flag.
