I really like oatmeal, but sometimes I crave cold cereal. Are the oatmeal squares as good for you as regular oatmeal?

If you read the package, you'll know exactly what's in the oatmeal squares. The problem with most of the prepared cereals, as opposed to cereals you prepare yourself, is that they are often full of sugars (sugar hides under many names in the lists of ingredients) and fats. That's because things that contain sugars and fats taste better and sell better. It's entirely up to you how much of that you want to take on board. We eat a lot of waffles, but I've altered the recipe so it's half oatmeal and half flour, and they're very tasty. I usually make a double batch and freeze half, so I can have the extras for nibbles or for a quick breakfast (just pop them in the toaster to defrost) when I'm in a hurry.
Hope this helps.

they have more sugar and adiitives, to keep them 'fresh' look at the box ingredients.... the best is an oatmeal that lists oats as the only thing in the box... you controle the sugar

Plain oatmeal is best. anything with added flavour, including bars, has more sugar and fat content.
