In my opinion, it really depends on the hot dogs, the cheap ones are best when you boil them, but if you are shelling out a little extra for a more expensive hot dog, I like to grill them over charcoal and some hickory wood chips, if you have no grill, then what I think is the best way to cook them is first,
Saute some onions and green peppers in some butter over medium heat, then when they are about finished, add a few teaspoons of cooking sherry and your hot dogs, then turn the heat up slightly and bring the sherry to a boil, when it all boils out the hot dogs should be nice and cooked and you have some wonder full caramelized onions and peppers to serve on top of them!

If you're really young, you should have an adult help you ... My kids' favorite hot dog recipes were the octopus and pigs in a blanket. Before preparing any food, make sure your hands are clean.
For the octopus, it is best to use knockwurst, or really fat hot dogs. Make four cuts into the hot dog LENGTHWISE (imagine looking at a cut pie ... that's how you should cut the hot dog, but from the bottom to about 1-1/2 " from the top). Place the hot dogs in a pot and cover with water, bring to a boil and cook for an additional 2 minutes. The "legs" spread out and become ... an OCTOPUS! Serve with the legs spread out on your plate with ketchup and whatever else you want.
Pigs in a blanket require the use of an oven, a cookie sheet, vegetable-based spray oil, a package of hot dogs and a tube of prepared biscuits. Open and separate the biscuits onto a cookie sheet sprayed with vegetable oil spray, like PAM. Take one biscuit at a time and flatten it out, so it will be big enough to cover the hot dog. Roll the flattened biscuit around the hot dog and place it on the cookie sheet, with the seam side down. Do this with the remainder of the biscuits and hot dogs, then bake in a 375-degree oven for about 10-12 minutes. (You can even add cheese when you roll the hot dog if you want). Dip in ketchup, mustard, whatever and enjoy!
Hope these help you decide!

Open a can of beer and let it set over nite (so it goes flat)
Add it to a pan containing 1 can of beef broth and bring to a slow boil put the hot dogs in the pan and cook for 1 minute ( should just return to a slow boil) turn off the heat and cover with a lid...let steam for 20 minutes....

Easiest way: bring to a boil in water on the stovetop and then shut off. The hot dog is pre-cooked. You just have to heat it up. Grab it with a fork or tongs to put on the bun. Be sure the bun isn't cold from the refrigerator. Never use catsup -- only mustard, relish and chopped onions -- or perhaps chili or sauerkraut.

When I was a kid my Mom would cut a slit down the center, fill with cheese then wrap in bacon and put under the broiler until the bacon is crisp and the cheese nice and bubbly.

Hot dogs are already cooked when you buy them. You just need to heat them up if you want them warm or hot.
