I can think of about ten things to say right now.

Well, people might hate me for saying this but, It's their damn fault for crossing the border in the first place. If they were living here what do they care about trying to vote for their president. They should place their concerns on becoming a legal citizen there. And if they want to vote for the president of their nation, they should stay there.

I can think of ten things to say right now and then some. This is a double edged sword. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If the illegals were still in Mexico, this wouldn't be an issue. If the illegals took proper measures to become legal, this wouldn't be an issue. If it were easier to become legal, this wouldn't be an issue. Regardless, don't complain about what's going on if you are not going to follow legal protocol to make changes.

Well, getting the border fence put in, following that up with some no-joke humane-but-effective enforcement, will likely afford most of the illegals from mexico in america now to participate in EVERY election from now on, by making it prohibitively difficult to either a) come to america illegally in the first place, or b) obtain employment once they're here, IF they do get in somehow.

Americans aren't out to poison the well, we LOVE to have LEGAL immigrants. What I think most people are against, I know I am, is unmetered, unfettered come-one-come-all ILLEGAL immigration. the 'bums rush' concept. On one hand, it's a compliment to have people want to come to america, on the other it's an insult to have them just move in and not go through all the steps that most people do to emigrate. The situation with having large numbers of mexican citizens in our country illegally isn't really such a great idea, maybe if they all DID participate in their election, the problem would solve itself....

If they wanted to vote so bad, they should not have left Mexico in the first place. Illegals should not be over here and that is that. It's fine if they want to visit, but the ones who want to stay should take our easy little citizenship test. Either green card, citizenship, visit or hasta la vista baby. Vote in what country the vote will be most valued in the most logical sense.

I don't get it. Are we supposed to feel guilty now that we are disenfranchising those illegally here from voting in their country because they are afraid we might enforce our laws better on their next illegal entry to our country?

They should go back and stay, or come legally, within the limits we set to protect our schools and other services. If they come illegally to steal our subsidized education from our children, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for their predicament.

Think of what?! If you come here to pick lettuce, pick it and go home. We are NOT obligated to care for or educate your families. The Mexicans should protest in Mexico. It is THEIR government that has turned their back on their own people.
America has done everything it can for these people. Demand that Mexico care for their own, for a change.

It seems like a Catch-22. How is that incentive to go back and be represented by the people who they put in office if they are restricted from being able to participate in the process?

If they were here legally they could come and go as needed.

My wife had a problem while waiting for her green card her father was sick. Because we filed a few days late for her card she was consider out of status therefor she was denied permission to leave and return. They told her that if she left her application would be considered abandoned and we would have to refile and she would have to wait in Brazil while processing her app. two years..

Its kind of like they are the East Germans, trying to get to West Germany back when the Berlin Wall kept them apart.

And the US citizens are the Nazis.

I live in Sweden and I still vote in USA elections. Also somewhere in the former Yugoslavia recently paid for their refugees to fly back and vote for democracy. Pretty cool!
