write the first a chapter of a a novel. you can do it. haven't you always wanted to write a novel? you could finish the whole thing in 5 days. i wrote a 57,000 word novel in 6 days (actually 5 1/2). but yours doesn't have to be that long.

go to the dollar store. buy some legal pads or notebooks and a bag of pens. (i prefer blue papermates, but whatever.)

then number the notebooks. you wanna get up to at least 200 pages. if you can fit 200 words on each page, then you'll have a 40,000 word novel once you get to the end.

you're gonna need to write 8,000 words a day (about 40 pages), but this isn't hard. a thousand words an hour is really pretty liberal. (it's less than 20 words a minute.) so it shouldn't take you any longer than 8 hours a day. that's like a work day. and 5 of those days is like a work week.

it doesn't matter what the book is about really. just write whatever stories come to your head. whatever you do, don't stop very often. that'll kill you. you'll never build up enough momentum. just keep writing whatever comes to your head. you'll be surprised at how well you come up with ideas once your hand is already in motion.

then when you're finished, you'll be able to say "i wrote a book". how many people can say that?? not many.
