both, but the factories produce more than you, so it is mostly the factory's fault.

Great answers!
I can't top them, but I have a bit more input:
For some reason many of the motor vehicles we see each day have changed and become big monsters on the road.
If this relatively new trend continues, you won't be able to see a thing on the roads anymore, let alone that smog in the air.
I suggested all vehicles be drawn down to where everyone can see what's going on with the road, etc.
I sent my suggestion to the Ford Motor Co.
Nothing has changed, all I see is the big monsters.
Ford and G.M. have their own big problems now, and they couldn't care one iota what the vehicles are looking like that they send out.
So, in sum, all of the big machines and the factories too have contributed to a dangerous air quality we see going around the earth, and the only one wanting to tackle this growing problem is Al Gore.

its definitly both. yeah factories do alot of polluting. but just think about how people smoke. use there cars daily and liter. sure no one person does a huge amount of polluting to amount to as much as a factory but there is billions of people daily that are polluting the air in their daily activities you have to look at it that way

We all play a part. The factories are a major contributor to pollution, however, when we use certain products that are harmful to the environment we are not helping the planet.

say if they do they will loose money!!! Which is more important
the health of our country & world or MONEY!!!!

Air pollution really has to deal with us and the factories. Aside from these, there's the cutting of trees and illegal logging. For trees produce oxygen and inhales carbondioxide.

There are about four billion cars, and about two hundred thousand factories.
Both contribute to our pollution problem.
