Johnson's Baby Shampoo kills fleas, but you also need to ask the vet for Frontline or Advantix.

You need to treat the house as well as the dog. I had that problem last year and wanted to get rid of them a natural way. I did some Internet searches and found that sprinkling salt on the carpet and leaving in for a day will dry up the fleas in the house. You may need to do that several time if you have eggs hatching. I bathed her with Hartz flea products that I got at Wal-mart. They also make a flea spray the you can use on your carpet. I use that if the fleas get really bad. I've heard that rising the dog with apple cider vinegar will repel the fleas - they don't like the smell. You can also put a few drops in the dogs water. That will give the dog an odor that helps keep the fleas away.
Good luck!

Go to the vet and get a prescription for Frontline. Its a topical liquid that kills fleas for a whole month. I have a dachshund who is always in the grass and we live in Texas and he has not had one flea since we put him on frontline. It might sounds pricey anywhere from 12- 20 dollars for one application but it is worth it. It wont wash off with water. YOu will have to buy a specail shampoo though because although its waterproof some shampoos will take the medicine off. I use Allergroom to bathe mmy dog.
You will spend so much more to have the same problem over and over if you do it the "cheap"way.OTC collars dont work, nothing over the counter does. Dont use the shampoos either, they are very harsh. Fleas carry tapeworms. If your dog eats the fleas it will have tapeworms and that is another small cost at the vet. Fleas are like lice too. You have to wash all the bedding, all the sheets, every toy, they lay eggs in your carpet. You will need to get a flea fogger (any grocery store has them just ask where, and Petsmart) and leave the house for several hours. There are many health risks for humans and dogs. Get rid of them once and for all and get Frontline or Advantage or SOMETHING. Talk to your vet and make an appoinment today. Trust me its so worth it.

Frontline or Advantage. You can get it at your vets office. You can also lay table salt down on anything that is cushioned and your rugs then sweep it up in 24 hours or so. You can cover your couch with a sheet or something so that when you sit on it you won't have salt all over you. Believe me it works and it's none toxic. When we first got our little dog (1 lb at the time) there was nothing out there that i could use that was safe and someone told me about it. A groomer told them. You can use just the Frontline or Advantage cause they work great and they will end up getting rid of all the fleas, but not right away if you have lots and it really needs to be used before the dog gets the fleas. Also the fleas themselves die every 24 hours it's the eggs that is really important to get rid of. This is where the salt comes in. It dries them up and then they can't hatch. Good Luck, but you really need to do something right away. I also wanted to add that the female flea can lay about 20 eggs per day so you really need to get rid of them eggs. The salt also kills the flea.

Give him a flea dip or a couple baths with a good flea soap. Then comb his hair with a fine toothed comb to eliminate any stragglers. Then buy a good flea collar & some flea pills(you give it once a month, doesn't hurt the dog, but makes his blood poison to fleas.) If you got them in the house, too, then you have to bomb the house with a flea bomb, clean everything & spray all around the edges of the rooms(near the floor) to prevent them coming back in or the eggs from hatching. Flea eggs can lay dormant for years. You have to take all the food out of the house while you bomb it & stay out for at least 12 hrs. or whatever the bomb recommends. About 15 yrs. ago I had this problem, but after I did all I just said, I've never had them since. I make sure to give those pills to the dog as soon as spring gets here.

A good anti-flea and tick shampoo should work. Be sure to start at her head and work your way back as the fleas have a tendency to hide in the ears when washed. Also, if your dog has fleas your house probably does too. Make sure you clean the carpet really well, I believe they sell anti flea powder you sprinkle on the floor and then vacuum up. Don't forget to clean your dogs bedding (if you have any) and I'd do a bunch of laundry too.
It's a pain but getting rid of the fleas on your dog is only the first step. Good luck.

You need to use special flea remover you can get from a pet store. Costco even has them in the pet section, and they're really cheap there. Also, give her a good bath and then apply the flea remover afterwards. You need to apply it to her right before she goes to sleep at night, and apply it around her shoulders (the place where she can't reach with her mouth, so she won't get poisoned.

Baby shampoo works with my girl. Since she is a small breed she is under the weight limit for most flea shampoos.
