I'm finding it very difficult to be around her after being in a physical relationship...to stop the feelings of wanting to be physical...for example kissing and holding hands. Some say it is better to just break even the friendship off. Help?

Very very rare to be able to still be friends that see each other. If one of you still has feelings for another then someone will end up with broken heart.

Take a grieving time. One day for every month you were together. (Together 5 months? "Grieve" for 5 days). Spend a couple more weeks with other friends to give each other space, then, place a "group" outing (it's best if you've already discovered feelings for another girl) with a bunch of mutual friends. Ask her to come along. It'll be awkward the first few times, because I went through this with my first boyfriend of 5 months. However, now we're best friends - and there's no weirdness what so ever. I am ever best friends with his girlfriend.

Its true. If you loved someone its very difficult to be friends with them. It will be much easier on you if you make a clean break.
