Could you please tell me:
who is the status (carved "1842") which is located at the opposite of Basilique Notre-Dame in Montreal , the spring is under the status. BTW, Basilique Notre-Dame is located in which city,Montreal or Quebec city?

Sorry, mistype, I am not asking the location of Basilique Notre-Dame , is the location of St. Joseph Oratory.

Paul Chomedey, sieur de Maisonneuve who was a French military officer and the founder of Montreal. He was born in 1612 to an aristocratic family in Neuville-sur-Vanne in Champagne, France. You can find out more about him here:
