3500 calories is correct. The experts say that one needs to burn 7000 calories per week in order to lose two pounds. So that simply means 3500 calories will lose you a pound. So you need to get in the gym and start burning those calories. FAst. Run, jog, skip, dance, do something... just burn and make sure you sweat!

You have to "BURN" 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat. That's if you lower your existing caloric intake.
