A lime is an undeveloped lemon. In other words a lime if left on the tree will become a lemon...which also will change its color from green to yellow.

it's so confusing. i'm mexican, and i was always told that limón --spanish word, sour taste-- equals lemon.
But in US lemon and lime is used the same.
And in mexico we have "limas" sweet flavor, i thought its translation was Lime. but then i was told that lima doesn't exist in US. and in US lemons are green and yellow --these ones are bigger--. in mexico we prefer green lemons, because they are more sour.
