I'm coming in from Detroit to Chicago Union Station on Amtrak, and I'm looking for a way to use CTA transportation to get to Schaumberg where I'll be spending the night, since they can't pick me up. And the maps I found on the CTA website weren't very helpful. Any natives of Chicago out there that can give me a hand?

From Chicago Union Station you must take the METRA Milwaukee District West Line (commuter train) to Schaumburg station. There is a train per hour and the trip takes 55 min.
