How many men & women of the military really thought that they would have to kill someone in the fight for America's rights??
My father, a Proud Marine, fought in the Vietnam War. He never really talked about it but when he did, he said that he remembers killing one person in particular and that was to save his life & the lifes of two wonderful men. One which lost both of his legs because he stepped on a land mine. He begged my father & the other man to leave him and save their own lives but my father refused and so did his companion. All 3 made it back to the campsite and the one that lost his legs, died a few days later.
God Bless America!!!!!!!

When I was joining the Navy in....a long time ago...my dad asked me...."Are you prepared to die to defend what the flag and uniform you are going to wear stands for?" I said yes and served 6 years for this great country.....I would do it again today if I could. We must allways remember the freedoms we enjoy are bought with a very steep price.

Pattycake, you should feel proud of your father. He did what most of us would have done under the same situation. God Bless America, indeed, and all soldiers who risk their lives so we may continue to live our lives. Stay well.

If I was face to face with someone trying to kill me, I would defend myself and if that meant killing them to save myself... I would.

What a brave man your father is....This country needs more soldiers like him!

kill or be killed mentality. not something you or I can discuss since neither of us has been "in the sh*it". it is human survival at its base. do what you gotta do to get home and see the wife and kids. no time to think about then, but, like your father, plenty of time to think about it later on.
