Nicotine releases glucose (sugar stores, but not fat stores) from your cells and raises your blood sugar and insulin levels. Increased insulin in your blood causes you to store more sugar. It is kind of complicated but basically it does not help you in the long run. Don't try to quit and lose weight at the same time because it is very difficult.
Smoking can hinder your health in so many ways, but it can also make it more difficult to lose weight long-term. After your nicotine level drops, so does your glucose levels, which make you more hungry or crave another cigarette. You are not only addicted to the nicotine but also to the glucose release because it gives you a slight burst of energy.
I know you don't want to hear it, but I'll tell you again that quitting would be the best long-term solution for you.
Best wishes. Take care.

Because of how many people dislike smokers, some dietary products will suggest you stop smoking. This has nothing to do with your weight loss. What they want to strive is to completey detox your body of everything, it's better to quit while dieting to get full effects. I'm a dieter and a smoker and I can tell you from personal experience that I've lost weight while smoking. To be honest, the first couple of times I tried dieting it didn't work because I was trying to stop smoking at the same time. But when I continued with the smoking while dieting it helped me. Now I have 3 or 4 extra cigarettes per day but it helps with the food cravings.

I am not a smoker, but I am sure smoking will stop you from snacking on junk. if I were you I would try different wight loss programs. For example having more than 3 small meals to maintain a high metabolism and good work out. When you know you are damaging your health with smoking whats the point of losing wight... this is what i think...

When you smoke it gives you a rush from the nicotine. If you choose to stop smoking which would be better in the long run just take a diet supplement that is going to substitute the rush from the nicotine. That is why alot of people gain weight when they stop smoking because instead of picking up a cigarettes they eat something. Keep your self active and your diet will go very well. Remember it's not always what you eat, it is how much you eat of it.

Probably the only good thing about smoking is that it acts as a stimulant and as such helps with any weight loss endeavor. Just don't puff more than 5-10.

Smoking should not keep you from losing weight. The only time smoking will affect your weight is when you stop smoking. They say you are guarenteed to gain 10 pounds when you first stop.
Food tastes better when you quit.

Just try quitting ans see what happens to your weight. What you have is an oral fixation that is satisfied by the cigarettes. When you quit you will replace that fixation with something else...most likely food.
