In Japanese "cheese" is also said "cheese", but since in Japanese the sound "s" does not exhist, so it is pronounced as "chiizu", which is the closest as it can get to the English pronunciation using only the sounds that exhist in the Japanese language.

Yes, chiizu is correct. However, the extended "i" sound is important because otherwise you'll be saying "map".

And it would be pronounced: "cheezoo".

♡Yes, I have to agree it's chizu and with spooky, it's 'chizu' チーズ.
Stress on the chee-zoo, otherwise it becomes the word map; atlas- 'chizu 地図'.
