All these other answers are plain dumb. The only reason people laugh at Christians who wears skirts and we are talking about women only is because they are suppose to. They are not of God and have no clue as to what it really means to Follow our Father the Lord Jesus Christ. And anyone who is a true genuine Christian does wear skirts and does not cut their hair nor wears makeup. Also speaking only of the women for those that are a bit slow out there. For it says it in 1st Corinthians that a womens hair is given unto her as a covering. So people that laugh at Christians for looking different just simply are living off of the fashions of the world which will definatley get you left behind when the rapture accurs and if you have no clue of what the rapture is then that's probably why your not wearing skirts to begin with.Just read the bible and it explains how in the old and new testaments everyone called every prophet there was a crazy, insane, person. They even called Jesus Christ the devil. So what more do you expect them to call you. If people want to laugh and call me crazy, then so be it. I will stick to my the Word of Jesus Christ to the end. They called Noah a crazy man for building the arc, but wouldn't you know as soon as it started to rain everyone was knocking on that crazy mans door. Like someone said in one of the answers, there are alot of pretty skirts out there, as long as they cover enough they don't have to drag to the floor or be only jean and kaki. Hope this helps.

This is probably one of the most generalized questions I've ever read.
If people are laughing at you because you are a "Christian who always wears skirts," my guess is that the group that is laughing is very small and specific and you'll probably have to ask them to really know the answer.
And unless they specifically say that is why they are laughing, I can't believe that would be the reason.

I don't laugh at them and I don't know anyone who does. But many people fear/laugh at things they don't understand. Laughter doesn't always mean that something's funny, sometimes it's just an inappropriate response when someone doesn't know how to feel about something. I have to admit, though, when I see fundamentalist Christians (to include Mormons) in their homely-looking style of dress, it catches my attention...as a more mainstream Christian, I guess it just seems like a really strange lifestyle to me, and the way fundamentalists oppress women is really disturbing. I hate stereotyping people, though, so I constantly remind myself to try and not do that.

Christians don't wear skirts all the time.
I hardly wear them...last time was at my son's christening a couple weeks back. And, that was the first time in --- years. I hate skirts! Unless its summer...

Why do people laugh at Muslim women who wear the hadija, or at people of any faith that dress a little differently or do things differently? It's because people are natually afraid of things that are different, and so they laugh or ridicule to make themselves feel better. It's really sad. I hope we all can realize that most differences are the spice of life, and respect them.

This brings my mind to a paragraph in one of my large reports I did this year: "Our United Nation: America Has a Choice." I talked about how our nation is run by a democracy congress. Our Constitution was developed to maintain peace and security of our nation by advancing and encouraging collaboration among the states through education, science, and CULTURE. Thus, to bring high respect for justice - humans basic rights - to peace and fundamental freedoms, without the distinction of RACE, SEX, LANGUAGE, OR RELIGION. . . . Therefor, I believe it is morally wrong to distinguish anyone for their culture in a disturbing way!

cause ppl think they're old fashion and assume they follow by strict paternal rules. If you think about it- ppl laugh because they follow by strict rules of materialism and "what is the fashion this week?" I think its refreshing to know that there are still people out there that dont conform to the rules of society

Same reason kids laugh at other kids in school.
They're immature, and it makes them feel better about themselves to put others down.
