My mom, grandma, and I are going to visit the British Isles in September (England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales). We need some ideas for popular, interesting places to visit while there. We have two weeks to travel, and we want to spend most of our time in Scotland/Ireland. We'll probably spend only two days in England. But is there anything to do in Wales?

If you are limited for time then you probably should give Wales a miss. It has some beautiful scenery such as in Snowdonia and on the Pembrokeshire coast, but it's not worth going there if it means missing something better.

In England, other than London you should try to see Stonehenge and perhaps Bath which isn't too far from it. In Scotland, as well as Edinburgh you must try to spend some time in the Highlands, perhaps you could go up to see Loch Ness. In Ireland Dublin has a fantastic atmosphere and the West coast is beautiful. If you get the chance and are going to spend a long time in Ireland then the Giant's Causeway in rural Northern Ireland is pretty spectacular.

Oh Scotland...Spend some time in Edinburgh and walk the Royal Mile.Aviemore is nice in the Highlands.Do not miss the Border region Kelso is very scenic and there are many stately homes in the area.Traquair house is the oldest inhabited house in Scotland.Peebles is our favorite town in the region.Make sure you travel to Oban there are many beautiful castles in the area especially Dunstaffnage.Take a ferry to Mull and then on to Iona to see the most holy island.20 kings of Scotland are buried there.Head up to the Kyle of Lochalsh go to The Isle of Skye and see the the Black Cuillon mountains.Try to ride the west highland Railroad out of Glasgow. It is perhaps the most scenic railway journey in the world. If you want a further journey try the Orkney islands.Very nice in summer with lots to see.Ireland I cannot help you with.
Bon Voyage.
