There are soooo many...but the one that comes to mind right off, that really set me free is the teaching of the parable of the Unmerciful Servant.

Read Phillipians 2:5-11. The greatest thing Jesus ever taught any of us was to love our neibor as our self. That and the washing of the disciples feet. "just as The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for many" Matthew 20:28

The story about the man who laid for many years near a pond (or river) of water -- the water could make you well if you got in soon enough at the start of the day, but after many years, he continued to lay on the ground, not attempting to go to the water, saying he couldn't make it to the water on time. He met Jesus and explained the situation to Him; Jesus said, "Do you want to be well?" This is actually a lesson from Jesus; often we whine and complain about our situations, health, our problems -- but we don't do anything to try to change things for the better; it's so much easier to sit around and whine, playing the victim.

That is a difficult one because there is a whole host of aphorisms that have relevance. One that sticks out in my mind is a statement he made to the Pharisees where he states how prostitutes and thieves will make it to the Kingdom of Heaven before they do, thus underscoring the imperative that God is concerned more with the heart, especially a heart that is willing to be transformed, than outward abidance to rules.

Why this is so important is because I see an ever-increasing prevalence today in puritanical Christianity, and legalistic religion as a whole, where the sum of doctrine is concerned with following the letter of the law and not the spirit. It is this perversion of religion that I see as being the systemic cause of what ails us, from Islamic terror to our election of George W. Bush as President.

For me, it was the reality of my conversion to Chrisitanity. In John's Gospel we read that unless we are born again we cannot see the Kingdom of God. Jesus spoke to Nicodemus who was a respected Jewish leader, and told him that he must be born again. Later in verse 16 Jesus says - For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

I put my trust in Jesus and His Word - this happened 37 years ago now, and its the best decision I could ever have made. I have a living faith in a relationship with the Lord Jesus. He has changed my life, guided me, loved me uncondtionally, and given me life in abudance.

That is such a good question. It would either have to be when he noticed the widow put two coins in the box, the good Samaritan, or when he told his disciples, "No man has greater love than this, to surrender his life on behalf of his friends?" Although, the prodigal son was awesome too!

What a righteous dude!

That the poor man suffered all his life followed what he thought was a good life, some one told him about a God he got obsessed with the stories and when it came down to it all his prayers, fasting preaching to everybody he saw and then it all became real there he was dying on a cross pleading to that God that he gave his life to, and his final words were FATHER WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME! see everyone should have learned from that story if none other THERE WAS NO GOD TO ANSWER HIM. He died after all that he did. He was just a man and he died ALONE.

In that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. By His stripes we were healed and many more.

An eye for an eye has really question my faith in Jesus. It's just not right. You can't execute a man because of personal grief and the bible. I'm not atheist or agnostic, I have faith in a god, but what kind of sick-o would approve of MURDER? This is dead wrong!

That we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, but that we are saved by grace....and that nothing...absolutely nothing but the Blood of Christ can save us...also the fact that when He was on the Cross, I was on His mind
