We just purchased a new SUV and now we need to sell both of our cars. Where is the best place to do this? I saw answers to sell on e-bay, but how does that work? Any tips on what we can do to get the most money out of it we can? We need to get as close to Kelly Blue Book value as we can. If anyone is looking for a good car in Ohio, I have two for sale....

Don't sell them on Ebay. Ebay shoppers are looking for a bargain. They expect to pay much less than blue book values. Blue book values are not always accurate anyways. Do some research and see what similar vehicles are selling for in auto trader, http://www.edmunds.com , http://autos.msn.com , and at used car dealerships. Although you will not get what a dealership is selling it for, do a little work and you will get pretty good money for it. Go on-line yourself and print out a Carfax report http://www.carfax.com and offer copies of it to the potential buyers. This will ease their mind about accidents, theft, flood damage, etc. Also, dig up all service records you have to show that the vehicles have been well maintained. This will show that you cared for the vehicle properly. Finding a mechanic that will do an inspection and give you a report would be a good idea as well as having the car detailed inside and out, or do it yourself. If any inexpensive cosmetic parts can be replaced, do it. It will make the car look much more appealing. List in in the local classifieds, auto trader, and/or greensheet for slightly more than you would expect to get for it and cross your fingers. You can always negotiate a cheaper price, but you won't get more than what you ask.

Lie like hell in your ad. Say it has low mileage, new everything(brakes, tires, exhaust system etc.). Pay a few bucks for a tune-up and oil change, top up all fluids in case prospective buyer takes a look under the hood. DO NOT use eBay they will want a commission, i think like 4% or higher, plus what if your buyer is in Hawaii?? Big shipping cost there. Sell them private. Best of luck.

eBay charges fees. But it is not bad if you sell it. Still you will not get the most of it. The best way is to sell on www.craigslist.org
This is free site where you can post your add and will sell your car in minutes. I sold 3 of my cars and very happy. I also sold and bought few cars on eBay. Still the www.craigslist.org is the best.

Good luck!

Okay, do either of the vehicles have lein? If so, then that is what is going to drive the price, you can't complete the sell of the vehicle until you payoff the loan.

Since you don't mind spending $400 per month on gasoline for your SUV, you must have more money than you know what to do with, and it won't matter to you how much money you get for your cars.

Just give them away, you're rich, aren't you?

Get some white shoe polish and write "FOR SALE" on the windshield, then park it in front yard!
