Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start Your Own Interior Design Business and Keep It Growing!: Your Guide to Business Success : Touch of Design by Linda M. Ramsay
* FabJob Guide to Become an Interior Decorator (FabJob Guides) by Tag Goulet, Catherine Goulet
* The Interior Design Business Handbook: A Complete Guide to Profitability by Mary V. Knackstedt

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

I was an architecture student for a year. It is VERY hard, but do-able. You are going to have a 'studio' class that's going to be like 4 hours long 5 days a week. In my University, It was REQUIRED that we spend 20 hours in sudio class during school hours and at least 10 hours in studio class during the weekend (so 30 hours total per 7 days).

If you truely want to be an interior designer, you will love it though. You get lots of challenging real life projects and you'll have a lot of fun.

The people in your studio class will be your second faimly. In my studio, we spent so much time there, we had bunkbeds, a microwave, a pool table, and a mini fridge right inside the sudio classroom.
