Its a congregation of fundamentalist christian extremist nutjobs that goes around picketing soldiers' funerals because they're protesting homosexuality (even though the soldiers arent gay).
Doesn't this make you proud to be a christian?

They can defend every single point they make with the Bible (they're actually following it more "to the letter" than most christians). This is more proof of why the Bible shouldn't be taken literally.

I have better words for them than extremist nutjobs... Anyone can take the Bible and justify their hatred. Simply shows me that those people really didn't need the excuse, except to get away with it within their own religion and community.
What I find rather strange, is Phelps has 13 children... 3 of which no longer speak to him or any of his family. The other 10, are lawyers..... They work the system whenever they need money for their next venture.

Westboro Baptist may practice the letter of what THEY read in the Bible. But they do not pay attention to the teachings of Jesus. The Bible is mostly metaphor.

They are not Christians. They are teaching lies. They are twisting God's word to make it fit what they want.
They are not following the Bible to the letter. They have a persecution complex. The more people hate them the more they think they are doing "God's work".

They no more represent authentic Christianity, than you do a biblical scholar.
What they stand for is controversy. What amazes me, is that they are supporters of liberal causes. Yes people, it's true. Your environmentalist on steroids, Al Gore, reached out to them back in 1988.

I have to wonder why they've chosen condemnation of homosexuality as their reason for living, when there are so many things wrong in this world worthy of attention. They sound like a bunch of closeted self-hating homosexuals to me.

That link at that church is America at it's worst and I can only thank God they are only a family church whose members are all the Phelps family.Nobody else would give them their interest and would more likely like to shut them down.

I really really hope that you dont let this church influence your view on christianity. I've seen this on Dateline a couple times. I think that there is a special place in hell for THESE so-called Christians.

I am not the type for anything new but I suggest *everyone else* should go on and try homosexuality at least the once so go ahead and free the love brothers of earth, you know God Loves you.
