I was an Evangelical Christian and active anti-Mormon (working with an anti-cult organisation in the UK) and I took this challenge thirteen years ago.
I'm not stupid. I have a degree in English literature and I am the author of two published novels - both bestsellers in their genre. I know inspired writing when I read it, and I know how to read the personality and nature of a writer in a book.
The Book of Mormon is true. It is the Word of God.
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and it teaches His gospel in all its glorious fullness, just as it was before man added heretical doctrines such as the trinity and original sin. (It is Christendom which preaches "another gospel", Jesus certainly never taught that priests must be celibate, or that unbaptised children go to hell.)
I'm so glad I swallowed my pride and allowed Heavenly Father to speak to me through His Holy Spirit. I have never regretted taking that challenge.

i already have taken the challenge and i know in my heart that the book of mormon is another testiment of jesus christ.
we were challenged to read it twice this last school year, i made it about half way through the second time when school got out.
i know that reading this book has really changed my life for the good. it has helped me get thru my brother's death, and helped me get my attitude problem under control.
i know that if people would just read it, they would find that there are parts of it that really do pertain to them.
taking the book of mormon challenge has been the greatest thing i have done since being baptised 9 years ago.
i hope and pray that by reading my answer to this question it has made at least a little bit if an impact on someone who needed it.

"To believe in the Book of Mormon requires an incredible amount of faith. I think just about any Latter-day Saint would agree with that. It's not like there is a lot of evidence to confirm the fact that the Book of Mormon is a legitimate historical record of real events that happened to real people. In fact, there is virtually zero evidence to back up its authenticity. Most Mormons will tell you that you simply need to have faith."
"...present scholarship has revealed that Joseph Smith did not translate the Book of Abraham by the power of God as he had claimed. We know for a certainty that the partial translation of the Kinderhook plates was obviously not a divinely inspired translation as well. It follows that if he did not translate the Book of Abraham by the power of God, and he did not translate the Kinderhook plates by the power of God, then it would be very easy to conclude that he did not translate the Book of Mormon by the power of God either. Obviously Joseph Smith had a vivid imagination and was perfectly capable of simply making up "translations" of real and imagined ancient texts. "
"Joseph's false "translation" of the Kinderhook plates + Joseph's false "translation" of the Egyptian papyri = a false prophet."
..."What if we still had the gold plates and experts proved them to be incorrectly translated and/or not even of ancient origin?" As you can see, that exact scenario has happened twice now. First with the Kinderhook plates and then with the Egyptian papyri. How much evidence does a person need?!?"

No I will not. that plain that simple. I have real problem with the Mormon faith.
Paul said, "even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."
The book of Mormon claims to be another gospel, I am sorry I know many other things about it and I can't by faith follow it.
I don't tell anyone what they should or should not do but I consider what it claims. It is not for me.
You may choose your own beliefs as you wish, but I can't buy in to the book of Mormon.
Sorry.

Not to be offensive, but I read it and it seems like it was written by a child. It literally had that feel to me. It sounded so "made up" that I actually chuckled out loud a few times. This is coming from a Christian, who is aware that many people have the same view of the Holy Bible.

Will you take the How Can This BE? Challenge?
In 1 Nephi 4:9 it says:
"And I beheld his sword, and I drew it forth from the sheath thereof; and the hilt thereof was of pure gold, and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine, and I saw that the blade thereof was of the most precious steel."
This event allegedly took place BEFORE STEEL HAD BEEN INVENTED! Is this evidence of a miracle? Or a sign that this book is bogus?

Definately no.......because the BIBLE is the Word of God..........not a book by Joseph Smith and his 'version'! Why would you believe his version and not the real Bible?
So many in that cult that 'appears' OK are so mislead. I use to see people that left the Morman church on a television program and they gave their reasons why.......it was very enlightning.

i think this question is entirely inappropriate for this setting. you would be much more effective if you challenged someone you know and care about and that trusts you. on yahoo answers you just sound goofy (and i'm a mormon!). please invest your efforts into an actual person, maybe you should volunteer your time to the ward missionaries in your area-i'm sure they'd love your support and enthusiasm!

I tried to, but I couldn't.
Mark Twain was right when he called the Book of Mormon "chloroform in print."
