Because their faith is so fragile it can't withstand competition.

Religion is a man made set of varying rules as applied to a concept based in faith. Faith itself is your personal relationship with a higher power in this case god.
Religions have historically been run by men that are seeking more than just a journey to personal spirituality. They are run by men that seemingly have an agenda to differentiate their believes, and the beliefs of their followers. It essentially is another "power trip" of men in general trying to affect a form of control over another.
Lord Acton the 18th century British historian remarked that "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". This has become a historical fact of men in high positions, including those of organized religions.
Religion is a form of control of one man over another, ideally developing a path to personal spirituality. However in this modern age it seems to be run by accountants, as all the things you do for a religion can be measured on an earthly scale: the number of prayers you say, the amount of money you give, the number of good deeds you do, the number of unbelievers you persecuted or killed.
These all are earthly things anchored in rules and accounting functions made by powerful men that sit at the top of an organized religion.
The real goal of religion is personal spirituality, not a monopoly game. However if organized religion actually helps you develope a spiritual relationship with god, then the things you do and become do not have to be counted or tallied on some spreadsheet or in the coffers of some man made man serving institution. Building spirituality is the work of religion not accounting or killing.

Have you ever sped-up in front of someone driving slower than you, but going to a [relative] location? Or, have you ever taking your time driving while everyone around you is speeding by?
Religious folks can live with you or without you (on earth) They dont need any book( or belief ) to tell them this either. The World or ( reality tells them this).
So would you share the same road with a slow-poke who you feel or think or believe is holding you up? Or would you take the path of least resistance?

I don't know, personally, I don't care if you believe what I do or not. I know as a christian I'm suppose to spead the word, which I'm not very good at, but that's certainly not the same as craming it down someones throat. So to kill someone who doesn't believe in what I believe in? No way, that's what make life interesting anyway, differences.

Brainwashing, and lots of it. These fools grew up learning nothing else from their brainwashed parents and family they do not know any better. Just like if I taught my child to hate black people his whole childhood. He would continue to hate blacks throughout his life. Only the smart ones have enough brain cells to realize religion is a fictional belief and really nothing more than just a glorified civic club.

extremists...they take their religion and understand it differently than most, thus assuming everyone else is wrong and should be punished...sad that it happens, but there are extremists in every religion and its a truth that seems will never pass. i am muslim and would never kill anyone because our religion is all about peace. however, some seem to see it ina different way, sadly

I don't understand why some religions kill those who don't believe as they do, but Christians, a true Christian wouldn't kill because someone doesn't believe in Jesus and our Bible.

I don't know but most religions are agianst murder and yet people still go off and kill others just to prove that they are "right". To be honest nothing really makes sense any more!

Very good question. For those who believe the Torah/Bible/Koran, God made it pretty clear - Don't Kill. Pretty simple rule. There were no qualifications on that. People can't seem to grasp it though.

Part of it is that when people disagree with you and say what you believe is fake or wrong, they are also insulting you personally since people have a PERSONAL relationship with their faith and religion, so they understandably take it personally.

If they are truly spiritual, they would never do such a thing. These are people who obviously have no comprehension of the teachings of the religions they so cherish.
Best wishes.
