How would you know if a tv show is copy protected or not?

off the air tv is not copy protected. cable and satellite programs can be modulated so the recorder can't record. but usually they tell you that the material is copy protected

i don't know all of that, but i do know that i hate my go video dvd recorder!!!! it's a piece of sh**!!!
