so i'm here, sitting at my computer, listening to anton lavey play the calliope. like you do.
my question is, when you hear a piece of music, what about it makes you think of satan? why does it conjure up thoughts of the devil?
i'm not talking lyrics either, but what the music on its own has to say. the key, the beat, alteration of tempo, ect.

i only ask because it seems, for music to be considered "evil" the lyrics have to say "f*ck your god" or "kill everyone in sight" or something of that nature. is there evil music though? why do you think its evil? also, give an example of a piece you think is evil or satanic.
i think its very telling in terms of who you think satan is.

i'd like everyone's views on this, you don't have to listen to "evil" music to answer.
;o)

Music is made up of rhythms. Tones, from which we build melodies and harmonies, are produced by rhythmical vibrations (a certain number of vibrations per second produces a given note). In fact, the first three elements of music-melody, harmony, and tone color-are the result of the arrangement and "quality" of these rhythmical vibrations. What we usually refer to as "rhythm" includes the grouping of tones into "measures" of music, as well as the tempo at which these groupings are played or sung.

An interesting fact that may give us clearer insight as to why music has such power over the human frame is that we are also essentially rhythmical creatures. "There is rhythm in respiration, heartbeat, speech, gait, etc. The cerebral hemispheres are in a perpetual state of rhythmical swing day and night."

Well, to answer this question, apparently you have to think music is evil and I don't. I'm into 70's hard rock, and I've heard its evil so guess I'm not a very good judge of evil music. The lyrics would have to be pretty bad for me to call it evil. I honestly have no idea how a beat, tempo or key could possibly be evil, unless the musicians were just so bad they literally fried your brain.
