Try to get one that presses down ON the fret, as opposed to BEHIND the fret--that will help your guitar stay in tune and lengthen the life of your strings.

I wouldn't pay more than $20 for a capo, myself.

Buy a Shubb. It will last you almost forever. It is adjustable and that helps not throw your guitar out of tune. Some capos are so tight that it puts you out of tune.
