Yes, absolutely! As a young boy in 1820, Joseph Smith wanted to know which church was true. As he searched the Bible for help, he read a passage that showed him how to overcome his confusion:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [James 1:5]
Acting on these words, Joseph went into the woods near his home and prayed. Suddenly, a light shone above him and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. When Joseph asked which church he should join, the Savior told him to join none of the churches because they were teaching incorrect doctrines.
Through this experience and many others, the Lord chose Joseph to be His prophet and to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church to the earth.

We are commanded to test all prophets. Deut18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. Smith had No prophecies that came true. No not even the one about the Civil War read it and see. The South didn't bring England in to do more than try to provide supplies. England didn't bring in any other nation and because of the Civil War the whole world was NOT consumed in War. He is a false prophet and should not be revered..

No. He was a false prophet. The Book of Mormon is not another testament of Jesus Christ.

We Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last prophet, but if you mean Joseph as in the guy who lived BC, then yeah, we believe he was a prophet.

If a religious author’s writings do not speak according to the Holy Bible, there is no light in them (Isa.8:20).

I don't know, but in my view, of all the Christian sects, the Mormons are the nicest, most pleasant people. They're so nice they scare me.
